Perspective
Definition
Perspective is the lens through which we interpret reality. It shapes how we perceive situations, assign meaning, and make decisions. Two people can look at the same facts and arrive at completely different conclusions based on their perspective.
In a business context, perspective influences strategy, communication, problem-solving, and positioning. It determines not only what we see, but what we consider important, possible, or worth pursuing.
Perspective is not the truth. It is a way of seeing. And as such, it can be changed.
Significance
In my work, shifting perspective is often the fastest way to unlock movement. People get stuck not because they lack options, but because they are looking at the situation from a single angle. The moment we change the lens, new paths appear.
This is especially true in leadership and strategy. What looks like a problem from one perspective can be an opportunity from another. What feels like resistance may actually be useful feedback. Perspective determines interpretation, and interpretation drives action.
Unique perspective is also the foundation of a unique proposition. What makes a company, a brand, or a person stand out is not just what they do, but how they see things. The angle they take. The meaning they assign. The story they tell.
We are looking for alignment between the founder’s vision, the employee’s effort, and the customer’s needs. It helps if they see the world similarly. That is why clarity of perspective is so powerful. It aligns internal thinking and external communication. It allows others to recognize themselves in your way of seeing.
And once people see what you see, everything becomes easier to explain.
